In CategoryAlternative Medicine, Danie Moore's Thought's, Natural Herb Useage

One of the most prominent complaints in the field of women’s health is yeast infections.  Although today there are many medications available to treat yeast infections such as Diflucan and a variety of suppositories, before our grandmothers had medicines, what did they use ladies?  That’s right natural remedies.  Here are some of the old school remedies for yeast infections that has withstood the test of time and are tried and true for candida and yeast.

No-Yeast Tea

Each day drink three cups of the following tea between meals or a half hour before eating. Ingredients: 2 parts sage, 2 parts mullein, 2 parts raspberry leaf, 1/4 part goldenseal.

Use 4 to 6 tbsp of herb mixture per quart of water. Add herbs to cold water and bring to a simmer and keep over low heat. Keep pot covered. Remove from heat immediately and let steep twenty minutes and strain. This tea will be quite bitter, so you may wish to mix it with cranberry juice.

Douche for Yeast Infections

You may douche every few days (or if the infection is severe, each day) with the following formula:

1/2 ounce Anti – Yeast Tea

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon acidophilus culture or 1/4 cup yogurt

Small drop of tea tree oil

Steep the tea in a quart of water for one hour and then strain. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix. When cooled enough, place in a douche bag, and very gently douche with the mixture.

Garlic Suppositories  garlic

Quick to make, easy to apply, and very effective, garlic suppositories are a favorite remedy of many women.

~ Peel a garlic clove (some caution against nicking the garlic in the peeling process as some say the oil can burn the vaginal lining but most are not bothered by this and say that the garlic should be nicked or bruised in order for the oil to be released)

~ Wrap a piece of thin gauze around the garlic, fold the gauze in half, and twist into a tail. It will look like a gauze tampon with a tail.

~ Insert the suppository well inside the vaginal cavity. For easier insertion, a small amount of oil can be rubbed on the end of the suppository.  Insert a fresh suppository every 3-5 and the old one removed. Repeat for 3 to 5 days until the infection is gone.
